This Privacy Policy is primarily governed by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Where foreign data protection law also applies in an individual case, we also observe its mandatory requirements.
2. Scope and definitions
This Policy explains which personal data we collect and process when you visit and use our shop, place orders, use customer accounts, submit contact enquiries, sign up for newsletters or otherwise interact with us. Personal data means information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
3. Categories of personal data processed
Depending on how the shop is used, we process in particular:
– master data such as name and title;
– contact and delivery data such as email address, telephone number, billing address and delivery address;
– account and authentication data;
– order, cart, return, payment and transaction data;
– communications from contact forms, emails and support requests;
– marketing data such as newsletter registration, evidence of consent and preferences;
– technical data such as IP address, device, browser, network, log and security data;
– usage data such as pages viewed, interactions, time, referring page and cart activity;
– information required for fraud and abuse prevention.
Full payment card details are generally processed directly by the payment service provider and are only accessible to us to a limited extent.
4. Sources of data
We receive personal data:
– directly from you, for example when you place an order, register, contact us or subscribe to the newsletter;
– automatically from your device and browser when you use the website;
– from processors and business partners, particularly Shopify and payment, shipping and security service providers;
– from publicly available sources where this is necessary and lawful in an individual case.
5. Purposes of processing
We process personal data in particular:
– to display and securely provide the shop;
– to initiate, perform and document orders and contracts;
– to process payments, delivery, returns, complaints and support;
– to administer customer accounts;
– to communicate with customers;
– to prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents;
– to comply with statutory retention, disclosure and evidentiary obligations;
– to improve our offering, usability and technical stability;
– for newsletters and direct marketing where the legal requirements are met;
– for audience measurement or personalised advertising only in accordance with applicable requirements and available privacy choices.
6. Legal grounds and justification
Under Swiss law, consent is not required for every processing activity. We process data in accordance with the principles of lawfulness, good faith, transparency, purpose limitation, proportionality and data security. Where justification is required, we rely in particular on the performance or initiation of a contract, legal obligations, your consent or overriding private interests, such as operating a secure, economical and user-friendly shop. Consent may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.
7. Shopify
The shop is operated through Shopify. Shopify processes technical, usage, account, order, payment and communication data to provide shop, checkout, security, analytics and customer-account functions. Depending on the function, Shopify may also act as an independent controller. Contracting parties may include Shopify International Limited in Ireland, Shopify Inc. in Canada and affiliated companies.

Shopify may process data in Canada, the USA, the European Economic Area and other countries. International disclosures are made in accordance with section 14.
8. Payment processing
The payment methods available are displayed at checkout. Payments may in particular be processed through Shopify Payments and the participating banks, card organisations and payment networks. TWINT may also be used where enabled. Payment service providers process the data required for authorisation, settlement, fraud checks and legal compliance, partly under their own responsibility. Their privacy notices also apply.
9. Shipping and performance of the contract
For delivery, we provide the necessary recipient, address, contact and shipment data to Swiss Post or the comparable shipping service provider used in the shipping process. Where delivery is made directly by a contractually bound supplier or fulfilment partner, that partner receives only the data necessary to process the delivery and is required to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security.
10. Contact form and support
When you contact us, we process your information to respond to, handle and document the enquiry. Required fields are marked accordingly. Telephone numbers are optional in the contact form unless expressly stated otherwise. Please do not send unnecessary sensitive or confidential information.
11. Newsletter and electronic advertising
Newsletters are sent only to people who have subscribed or where another legal permission applies. We process in particular the email address, time and source of consent, technical confirmation data and interactions with messages. Where available, we use email confirmation (double opt-in).
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in every message or by emailing hello@mercuryinternational.ch. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. Order and service communications are sent independently of a newsletter unsubscribe where required to perform the contract.
12. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, pixels, local storage technologies and comparable functions. Strictly necessary technologies are used in particular for the cart, checkout, security, load balancing, language selection and customer accounts. Optional technologies may be used for statistics, audience measurement, convenience or marketing.
On your first visit and through the privacy settings available in the footer, you can—where corresponding optional technologies are used—make your selection, reject non-essential categories or later change your choice. Non-essential technologies are used in accordance with applicable legal requirements and your selected settings. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser; this may restrict individual functions.
Information about providers, purposes, categories and durations is provided in the displayed privacy settings or cookie details. We regularly review the actual configuration and update this Policy when material changes occur.
13. Social media and external links
The shop contains links to our profiles on Facebook and Instagram (Meta Platforms) and TikTok. Merely displaying our website does not generally transmit profile data to these platforms through simple external links; when you click a link, you leave our shop. Platform operators then process data under their own responsibility and according to their privacy policies. If embedded content or advertising pixels are activated in the future, these will be identified and controlled through the privacy or cookie settings as appropriate.
14. International disclosure
Some service providers process data outside Switzerland. We disclose personal data abroad only where the statutory requirements are met. This is particularly the case where the Federal Council recognises an adequate level of protection in the recipient country, suitable contractual safeguards such as standard data protection clauses adapted to Swiss law are in place, a statutory exception applies, or required express consent has been given. For service providers in the USA or other countries without a generally recognised adequate level of protection, foreign authorities may have access rights under their local laws.
15. Retention periods
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose or where statutory, contractual or security-related reasons apply. As a rule:
– order, contract, invoice and accounting records: generally ten years;
– support and contact enquiries: generally up to 24 months after closure, longer where claims remain pending;
– customer-account data: until the account is deleted, unless a retention obligation applies;
– newsletter data: until unsubscribe; necessary evidence and suppression records may be retained for a limited time thereafter;
– security and technical logs: as necessary, generally for significantly shorter periods unless a security incident justifies longer retention.
Data is then deleted or anonymised unless an obligation or overriding legitimate interest requires further retention.
16. Data security
We and our service providers take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration and disclosure. Depending on what is appropriate, these include transport encryption, access restrictions, role and permission concepts, logging, backups and selection of suitable service providers. Absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
17. Automated individual decisions
We currently make no decisions based solely on automated processing that have significant legal consequences for affected persons. Automated risk or fraud indicators may flag orders for manual review. If this changes materially, we will provide appropriate information.
18. Children’s data
Our shop is not specifically directed at children. Orders may only be placed by persons with legal capacity or with the consent of their legal representative. If you believe a child has unlawfully provided us with personal data, please contact us.
19. Rights of affected persons
Subject to applicable law, you may in particular:
– request information about the processing of your personal data;
– have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
– request the disclosure or transfer of certain data;
– request deletion or restriction of processing;
– object to processing;
– withdraw consent with effect for the future.
These rights may be subject to statutory limitations, in particular retention obligations, overriding interests and third-party rights. To prevent misuse, we may request appropriate proof of identity.

We may amend this Privacy Policy if processing activities, services or the legal situation change. The version published on this website at the relevant time applies. The date above indicates the latest revision.
22. Google & YouTube
We use the Google & YouTube sales channel provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. In particular, product, shop, price, availability and shipping information may be transmitted to Google and synchronised with Google Merchant Center and free product listings.
Where the relevant functions are used and you have consented where required, technical data such as IP address, device and browser information, usage data and events relating to visits, carts, checkout, purchases and conversions may also be transmitted to Google. This data may be used for audience and performance measurement, analytics and—only where separately enabled—marketing or the display of relevant advertising. Optional analytics and marketing technologies are used in accordance with your choices in the cookie and privacy settings.
Google may process data in the USA and other countries. International disclosures are made in accordance with section 14. You can change your selection at any time through the cookie and privacy settings available in the footer or withdraw consent with effect for the future.
